Focus on strength, balance & Flexibility

Hot Yoga has a long list of positive benefits for both your body and your mind, so many in fact, that more and more people are turning to it as a form of regular exercise.

Improves your flexibility

In a heated environment your muscles are able to warm up quicker so are more relaxed when you come to start your practice.  This allows you to stretch a little further and achieve a greater range of motion (ROM) through your joints.

Burn more calories

It isn’t a HIIT or Crossfit class, but the way you move through the practice and hold the postures will stimulate your metabolic system.  Bringing your heart rate up and bringing your body into a state where it starts to burn calories more readily.

Reduce stress

By only focusing on yourself during your practice will help to clear the mind, while the stimulation of your nervous system helps to balance your hormones.

Nourishes your skin

One of the benefits of sweating in a warm environment is that it can improve circulation, bringing oxygen- and nutrient-rich blood to your skin cells. This, in turn, may help to nourish your skin from the inside out.

As well as building bone density, improving concentration, lowering heart rate, and increased fitness…the list of yogas benefits is endless

We promise yoga will help you to live a longer and happier life

The original and classic hot yoga practice, this primary series is made up of a set sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, all done at 105°f (40°c) in the controlled heated environment of our studio.  This practice is verbally led by our experienced teachers, with minimal demonstrations, allowing them more time to focus on each practitioner and offer verbal adjustments throughout the class as needed.

As the class is the same each time you practice, you create your own benchmark and develop at your own pace from there, making this class suitable for all levels from beginner to experienced.

With a mix of Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa and even yin, our hot flow classes are designed to work on stability, strength and give your the opportunity to slow down your practice and move through 60 minutes with more focus on your foundation and alignment.

With each teacher bringing their own individual style to their classes you can find the most variety with this practice, and while the classes may be different you will notice similar structure and similar transitions between postures.

If you are new to yoga, hot flow will give you a good introduction to not only the hot room, but the most common style of yoga practice today.

Creating a fusion of our original Bikram sequence with a touch of Ashtanga and traditional flow, our Absolute Hot 50 class is a set sequence of 50 postures done in our studio heated to between 36-38ºc.

With the majority of the postures coming from our Bikram sequence, this class makes a nice compliment to that practice as it brings in additional postures that focus on core strengthening, hip opening and upper body strength and stability.

With 50 postures the pace of this class can be quite fast in places but still offers plenty of moments of calm.

This varied class class is based around a traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa practice.

The class spends time focussing on building some heat in the body and finding deeper stretches through the muscles with a flow, before moving into more of a workshop towards the end of the class and allowing practitioners to try more challenging postures, such as inversions and arm balances, all under the guidance of our experienced teachers.

This class is a great practice to challenge yourself and try something you won’t find in any of our other classes.

A slow moving practice, our Yin and Restorative classes allow us to cultivate space and peace within the mind and body.  With postures being held for longer periods of time (anything from 2-5 minutes) we are able to relax into the practice and focus on releasing the deeper connective tissues (ligaments, tendons, fascia and joint capsules).

As the perfect compliment to a hectic life, or even a hot yang practice, Yin and restorative yoga allows us to increase our flexibility, range of motion through the joints and overall body awareness.

Bringing together the energies of the sun and the moon, the masculine and the feminine, the light and the shade, Yin/Yang classes use dynamic and fun sequences to warm and strengthen the body, while complimenting them with long, slow, deep holding postures to calm the nervous system.

You do not have to have done any yin or flow yoga before to be able to enjoy the movements of our Yin/Yang classes.

This class offers you the challenge of a faster paced practice while still giving you exactly the same sequence, same heat and same benefits as our original practice.  Done in 45 minutes rather than the normal 90 minutes, each posture and breathing exercise is only done once.

If you are new to Bikram yoga we strongly recommend trying a few of the original 90 minute classes first before trying our express 26 so that you can have a little bit more time to learn each of the postures, which will make this class more enjoyable.

yogi FAQ's

New to hot yoga

The safe environment of a heated room allows the muscles, ligaments and joints to stretch deep without causing injury (also aiding the healing of existing injuries). It detoxifies the body by opening the skins pores; thins the blood to clear the circulatory system; and increases the heart rate for a great cardiovascular workout.

All of our classes are good for everyone, from beginner to seasoned yogi.

We do recommend taking a few of our 90 minute Bikram classes before trying our Express 26 so that you are more comfortable with the postures and sequence.

No, you do not need to be flexible to practice yoga. As you practice, the muscles of your body will be gently stretching and over time you will notice your flexibility increasing, as well as your strength. You will see people of all ages, sizes, shapes and abilities taking part

You will want to wear clothing that is close-fitting, breathable and lightweight. Avoid baggy clothing.

Yes, you can. Throughout your class please listen to your body in a way that prevents any further injury. Yoga can be seen as a healing practice, as it causes us to slow down and take time. Make sure you speak to your doctor first and notify the teacher of your injury.

During the delicate and critical time of your first trimester we ask you to refrain from practicing Hot Yoga. If you are pregnant and have never practised Hot Yoga before, but are interested in practicing yoga we advise finding a prenatal yoga class. You can start to attend regular Hot Yoga classes about eight weeks after the birth of your child, as long as you have post-natal clearance.

If you have had a regular Hot Yoga practice of no less than a year before becoming pregnant, we advise you to talk to your doctor and a senior teacher after your first trimester about attending regular classes. If you have had practice of any less than this we advise you to join a gentle or pre-natal yoga class. You can return to Hot Yoga classes about eight weeks after the birth of your child, as long as you have post-natal clearance.

Try to arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of your first class.  This will let you meet your teacher and be able to settle in and prepare before the class starts

You will want to bring a bottle of water to have to sip on during your class.

For safety, glass containers are not permitted glass around the studio.  We also to not allow food (including chewing gum) in the studio.

If you begin to feel ill, dizzy or faint, sit and rest and try to sip some water until the feeling passes.

This feeling is not uncommon, and we suggest trying to recover in the room if you can.

If you feel you want to leave the studio, please do so between postures and wait to return to the class between postures.

No, we do not allow children under the age of 16 years old to take part in any of our heated classes.

Studio equipment

All of our classes include the use of a studio mat. If you have your own mat you are more than welcome to bring and use it.

If you use a studio mat, for hygiene and safety you will need to have a towel large enough to cover the mat during practice.

If you do not have a towel, or your towel is not large enough to cover the mat, we have towels available for rent at the front desk.

If you are going to be practicing regularly we recommend purchasing your own towel.  We have a variety available at the studio.

studio etiquette

Yoga should ideally be done barefoot as it will help you grip onto the mat and your towel.

The studio is shoe free, but you are welcome to wear socks around if you feel more comfortable.

We also request that you wear socks and/or clean shoes/flip flips around the studio if you have any foot complaints (verrucas etc.) as a courtesy to other members.

Please leave all phones outside of the studio, and turn them to silent to not disturb the classes. You want to use your class time to switch off from the outside world.  We are more than happy to take photos of you in postures after class if you would like.

If you are an emergency on call worker, please advise the teacher before class if you need to keep your phone close by.

The studio is a place to find focus, so when you enter the studio before class please respect others in the room and keep voices to a low volume.

Likewise when you are leaving after practice, please do so quietly respecting any savasanas that are occuring.

Please leave any studio mats in the studio after class.  We will make sure that they are cleaned properly once everyone has left the studio, ready for the next class.

If you are using a rental towel, please just drop them into the basket outside the studio door.
