About us

Welcome to Hot Yoga Newcastle, Newcastle’s first original hot yoga studio!

We were born out of a passion for our hot yoga practice, and we have put together a space that allows every person that comes to the studio to experience hot yoga how it is supposed to be.

Our studio is fitted with infrared heating panels designed to simulate a natural hot and dry environment, and in doing so give you an optimal experience in your class.  Our panels work by heating your body, rather than the space, which allows not only your body to feel more relaxed but the air to feel clean and unstuffy, so that you leave your practice feeling soothed and revitalised.

With all of our teachers having practiced hot yoga for many years, we are keenly aware of the many benefits that practicing in a hot room can provide, and we are wanting to share these with the North East, as we create a space for people to come together and create a community of friends.

Meet our teachers

Victoria

teacher and founder

Victoria was first introduced to Bikram yoga in 2010 and immediately fell in love with the rhythm and routine of the practice, and quickly found herself practicing at home most nights after work.  Quickly noticing both the physical and mental benefits of the practice she delved deeper into the world of hot yoga, completing her first teacher training in 2017 and she continues to learn as much as she can as part of her training to be a yoga medicine teacher.

After being away from Newcastle for over 10 years, moving back she was excited to bring a practice that helped her through moving jobs, countries and continents, to the North East, and opened the doors to Hot Yoga Newcastle in 2020.

Victoria likes to focus on a more functional approach to her classes.  She believes that the practice should be fit to the body and not the body fit to the practice.

Her classes are varied, moving from strong and powerful to slow and playful, all while challenging you to push what you think your body can do.

SAlly

Teacher

Sally fell in love with yoga when she took her first vinyasa class in 2017.  After stepping away from a school teaching career to run her own small business and raise her daughters, she looked for a new challenge and yoga provided the perfect platform

She loves the eclectic fusion of the physical practice of asana with the mindfulness and spirituality of yogic philosophy.  It is this journey that inspires her to share her passion with others in a fun and laid back way.

Sally’s classes give you the opportunity to explore a more dynamic, yet calming, breath led practice flowing from one posture to the next.  This is the perfect combination for those of all levels looking to get to the heart of yoga, tone the body and calm the mind.

Jules

Teacher

Jules first started taking yoga classes in 2014 when she was looking for a low impact exercise to help after developing self described ‘crunchy knees’ from running.

Instantly falling in love with hot yoga she continued to practice regularly before taking her teacher training in 2016, and running her own classes at a variety of local venues.  This passion continued to grow and she left a successful career in logistics to pursue teaching yoga full time.

Relocating from Milton Keynes to the North East a few years ago she has been continuing to offer classes at a variety of local venues around Northumberland, and has also been getting back into her hot yoga practice.

Myet

Teacher

Myet hails from the beautiful country of Myanmar and has been calling Newcastle home for the last few years as she completes her Law studies.

She started her yoga journey in 2017, finding love in the strength and challenge of an Ashtanga practice.  Looking to deepen both her knowledge and practice, she took her first teacher training in 2020, and has trained under Little Yoga Studio in Myanmar, and Aadi Yoga School in India.

As she teaches she continues to find enjoyment in sharing her understanding with others, always learning and developing new skills and teaching methods.  Her classes are built around a traditional base, but always contain a playful element as she encourages you to explore postures that you may not have done before.

Ben

Teacher

Ben first came across yoga when he was 18 and recovering from a motorbiking accident.  He found that the full aspect of a yogic life helped him to overcome trauma, injury, stress and anxiety.

Feeling and seeing the transformative effects of yoga, Ben has studied a few different styles of yoga including Hatha, Ashtanga and Bikram, and continues to be a student of the yogic philosophy.

Ben’s teaching style is traditional, Asana, believing that what you practice in the studio is a physical moving meditation.

All of his classes run with detailed posture alignment and breath cues.  His classes move slightly faster, but this pace teaches a deep connection to the body, and his classes will leave your mind calm and peaceful.
