The heat of the studio means your muscles are able to warm up quicker making them more relaxed when you come to start your practice. This in turn supports a deeper stretching in the body, gently improving the flexibility not only in the muscles, but the tendons also, helping achieve a greater range of motion (ROM) through your joints
It isn’t a HIIT or Crossfit class, but movement through a practice combined with longer holds in postures stimulates your metabolic system. This brings your heart rate up and brings your body into a state where it can start to burn calories more readily
Take a minute or 60, even 90 of them, and just focus on yourself. Yoga is all about letting go of the chaos and finding a connection with yourself. There is no distractions in the room so your time, your practice will help to clear the mind, while the stimulation of your nervous system helps to balance your hormones
One of the benefits of sweating in a warm environment is that it can improve circulation. As we open the smaller blood vessels close to the skin to sweat and cool off, we open those tissues also to oxygen- and nutrient-rich blood. This, in turn, may help to nourish your skin from the inside out, give that post yoga glow.
